What Will Follow Climate Catastrophe? The Prophecies Speak
In this post I explore the possibility that, beyond the times of catastrophic climate change, lies an age of harmony, peace and love, when humanity will finally honor its spiritual connection with all that is.
This possibility is based on both the Earth’s history of recovery after past extinction events, and a number of remarkable prophecies delivered from several locations around the world over the last millennium.
It seems as though we are rapidly heading into a chaotic, unpredictable climate full of extreme weather events, supercharged by global heating.
At the same time, those who hold political and governmental power are unable to act with the urgency needed to rein in the carbon emissions that are heating the planet. The plodding inertia of bureaucracy cannot respond nimbly to this rapidly advancing catastrophe, while ordinary citizens do not have the power and resources to do so. We need our leaders to lead, but they are mired in the ways of the past rather than responding to the forecast for the future.
This situation is leading to ever more dire predictions for humanity. Even relatively middle-of-the-road news services are now publishing articles that detail how rising temperatures will diminish food production, or that portions of the planet’s surface will become uninhabitable. They predict that the world financial system will break down as nations are bankrupted by the astronomical cost of climate catastrophes, or that our current civilization will be destroyed. Some even mention the possibility of human extinction.
There seems little doubt that we are heading into a time of great destruction, and a time of suffering, loss and death.
In the midst of this terrifying vision of the relatively near future, it can be difficult to remember that the planet has already experienced five mass extinctions, and that as tragic as these events were, there was always a regeneration, a flowering of plants and animals that were more evolutionarily advanced than those that had gone before. A more glorious phoenix has arisen from the ashes every time.
I believe that this will most likely happen again. In this post I am sharing this belief, and an uplifting vision for our future, as a way of keeping the light alive in each of us as we head into dark times of destruction. A better world is possible, and it will be made even more possible by our belief that it will happen. So having and holding this belief seems supremely important.
I base this belief not just on what has happened to the planet before, but on a number of prophecies for our future. These prophecies all say essentially the same thing, that our current material civilization will be destroyed but will be followed by a golden age of love and peace. Humans survive the catastrophe, much reduced in numbers, but evolve to a higher spiritual state that is reflected in their relationships with each other and with the Earth.
Here are the prophecies that I have found. As you will see, they make three major points. The first is that we are living in a time of great material comfort and great spiritual emptiness. The second is that major Earth events will destroy our civilization and lead to widespread death. The third is that a Golden Age of spirituality, peace and love will follow. All of the prophecies contain at least two of these elements, and most contain all three. The correspondence between the prophecies is quite remarkable. But see for yourself.
Native American Prophecies
Four Native American prophecies tell us in no uncertain terms that we are living in a time of imminent destruction of the Earth. The Kogi prophecy states that unless we start to honor and cherish Mother Earth, she will use her mighty planetary forces to extinguish most life on the planet. The Anishanaabe also tell us that we have a choice about how we treat the Earth, and that if we choose the wrong road, the Earth will be blackened, but if we choose the right road, we will live in peace and love on a verdant planet. The Hopi and Quechua-Incan prophecies tell us that the destruction of Earth is inevitable, and will happen regardless of our actions. However, they also say that after the great devastation will come a golden age, a time of peace, light and love for all humanity.
Here are summaries of the four prophecies, with links to longer posts.
The Kogi, an ancestral people who live in the highlands of Colombia, have given the world three warnings that we must stop destroying the Earth and start caring for her. The latest warning is dire, and tells us that we must start cherishing and respecting the Earth immediately, or very soon she will use the Laws of Nature to extinguish most life on Earth.
An Anishinaabe prophecy says that we are now in the time when we will be given a choice between two roads, one lush and green, the other black and charred. If we choose the right road, we will light an eternal fire of peace, love, brotherhood and sisterhood.
The famous Hopi prophecies describe this present time as one that will soon lead to massive destruction of the Earth and much of life and humanity. However, this ‘purification’ will usher in a new epoch, a time of harmony with the Earth and each other, and lasting peace for the world’s people.
Quechua Incan prophecies predicted that the white man’s coming would bring 500 years of materialism and imbalance. But now that era is coming to an end, and the Age of Aquarius will signal the return of Light to the planet and the dawn of a golden era. They say that we live in the time of the fulfillment of this prophecy.
Long Count Calendar Predictions
Long count calendars divide vast periods of time into repeating cycles of eras, where each era has its own particular characteristics. I have found two such calendars from opposite sides of the planet, the Toltec-Aztec Calendar which arose in the area that is now Mexico, and the Yuga Cycle from ancient India. Both state that we are at the very end of an age of advanced but empty materialism, and that this age is about to give way to an era of much greater spiritual consciousness.
The Toltec-Aztec Calendar divides time into ages, which it calls Suns, each Sun lasting 6625 years. We are currently right at the end of the Fifth Sun, and about to come fully under the influence of the Sixth. The Fifth Sun has been a time of patriarchy, outward focus, expansion and materialism. However, with its inner focus, the Sixth Sun will in many ways be the opposite of the Fifth. It will nurture a new humanity, and be a time of gender equality, spiritual growth and enlightenment.
The Cycle of the Yugas was discovered by wisdom seekers of ancient India, and describes periods of time called Yugas, each 2700 years long. At the end of each Yuga there is a time of great planetary destruction that erases civilization, allowing it to spring anew in the next Yuga. We are currently at the very end of the Kali Yuga, which is an age of great material comfort but great spiritual emptiness. The time of destruction is upon us, but will eventually give way to the Dwapara Yuga, a time of higher spiritual consciousness and deep harmony with the Earth.
Near Death Experiences
When interviewing hundreds of people who had experienced NDE’s, Kenneth Ring found 16 who had been shown visions of the immediate future of the Earth. The visions focused on the next few decades. What NDE’ers saw was everything becoming unstable and breaking down. They saw massive geophysical changes, erratic weather patterns and dwindling food supplies. They saw a breakdown of human relationships at all levels and a strong possibility of nuclear war or a nuclear accident. This great upheaval occurs because humanity has been ignorant of True Reality. However, this upheaval is neither random, an end nor a punishment. Its purpose is to act as a spiritual cleansing for Earth. Humanity survives, and there is a transformation into a new, much more spiritually evolved way of being which has universal love at its core.
During an NDE, Ned Dougherty was given a vision of the future history of Earth. He was shown a series of wars, huge geophysical changes and natural disasters, many climate-related, along with social, economic and political chaos. He was told that these catastrophes however were avoidable if humanity turned to God and aligned with God’s plan, which is for a global spiritual awakening. God is already sending his spiritual energy to us, and through the transcendent power of prayer we can affect the severity of the destruction that will precede our awakening.
Prophecies of Spiritual Masters
These prophecies have been left to us by four enlightened spiritual masters, starting with Padmasambhava in the 8th Century, and ending with Peter Dunov in 1944.
In 8th Century Tibet, Padmasambhava addressed the years 2024 to 2034, predicting that these years would be preceded by many highly destructive natural events, and would see escalating planetary warfare that would leave the Earth a smoking ruin.
Baha’u’llah, founder of the Baha’i faith, in the nineteenth century prophesied that our material way of life would lead to widespread death and destruction on Earth. He also gave a detailed set of principles for right living, telling us that the more faithfully we embrace those principles now, the less violent the destruction will be, and the sooner a golden age of all that is good will appear.
Nao Deguchi, founder of the Japanese religion of Oomoto, also prophesied in the nineteenth century that divine power would sweep away the present materialistic world order in a great cleansing that would lead to a reign of peace.
In 1944, Peter Dunov predicted a great wave of cosmic energy that will initiate catastrophic earth changes and the complete destruction of our current civilization. After a time of much suffering, a new race of humans will appear to inhabit a new continent and manifest a Golden Age governed by the Laws of Love.
Received Prophecies
These are prophecies revealed to various individuals over the last 200 years. They predict either or both a great planetary destruction that will end our material way of life, and a Golden Age of peace, love, harmony and tranquility that will follow.
In the 1930’s, the ‘sleeping prophet’ Edgar Cayce predicted future earth changes, including earthquakes, volcanoes, a pole shift, strange weather patterns, droughts, famines and tidal waves, starting in the years 1958-1998, followed by a golden age of 1000 years of spiritual enlightenment and peace on earth.
In 1958 in Slovakia, the Lady of Light appeared six times to Matus Lazuta, a forester of humble circumstances. She showed him that the sins of mankind would lead to cataclysmic planetary events that would destroy most life on Earth. The only way to avoid this catastrophe was for people everywhere to turn to prayer and amend their sinful ways. If they did this, then the Earth would become a place of harmony, happiness and peace.
Over 20 years of visionary experiences, Christopher Bache was given repeated, lucid visions of the future of humanity. He saw the Earth’s ecosystems collapsing, along with all the systems of our current civilization, bringing terrible suffering and death. However, the suffering catalyzes an unprecedented evolutionary leap to the truly enlightened Future Human. We finally each know that we are One, a much larger infinite Soul, and that all Souls are equal and indivisibly part of the One of humanity.
In a channeled prediction, Ramaji speaks of the imminent awakening of Universal Consciousness on our planet. Our beloved Earth is herself receiving an upgrade into non-dual consciousness and the attaining of enlightenment. He has recently said that the soul of the Earth has almost reached this enlightened level of consciousness. At some point, a critical mass of enlightened awareness will change things in the blink of an eye. Some of us, but not all of us, will join Earth in this transition.
These visions of the future suggest that the climate catastrophe that we are heading into is not an end.
It is a transition. And the transition is to an era where humanity will finally express and manifest its divine, loving nature in all relationships with the Earth, with each other, and with the Source.
I am not in any way pretending that the transition will be easy, or that this vision should be used as a spiritual bypass for current anguish. There will be inconceivable suffering as death and destruction sweeps over the Earth. There will be agonizing grief as we recognize that with our own materialistic way of life we brought this tragedy on ourselves.
However, if we can hold the vision of the golden age to come, perhaps it will help us see the larger purpose for the destruction of much of what we have known. Only as it is swept away will there be space for the new era of humanity to dawn, grow and flourish. But most important, as visionary co-creators we will add strength and manifesting power to the universal energy that is already gathering to bring in this time of love and peace. We can be co-creators of a light-filled future where humanity is finally able to manifest in this Earthly reality its divine, loving, enlightened nature.
